Getting active at work might be easier than you thought.

It’s that 2:30pm feeling at work – the all too familiar post-lunch slump that leaves you feeling sluggish and unmotivated. Don’t worry, you’re not alone; most of us experience that feeling at least a few times a week!

For many of us, the work day consists of sitting at a desk for hours on end, which leaves us feeling poor in the short and long term. Since running to the gym or taking a class mid-day isn’t always an option, it’s important to find other ways to incorporate exercise into your day to boost energy and productivity.

Here are some simple tips to ensure you’re getting active at work:

Gather workplace momentum: Ask your fellow co-workers if they want to join you for a fast exercise break. How about a plank challenge or the Monday Mile at work? Setting weekly workout breaks is a great way for you to move around and catch up with your co-workers.

Use your office as a gym: You may not realize it, but there’s exercise potential all around you. Nano Workouts can turn everyday objects into workout equipment. That desk? Use it for your abs or legs. That book? Use it to strengthen your arms. That couch? Use it for your hips and core. Cut out the elevator, and there’s your cardio!

Set out some time for yourself: Feel like upping the intensity a little? If you have some extra time and a little space, pick a workout you can do alone. If your work day feels extra stressful, try a relaxation workout.

Be consistent and don’t give up: Try setting goals for yourself each week – it will give you a whole new motivation to come to work!
